I hail from Bogotá, set amidst the northern Colombian Andes. In 2001 my family moved to Ecuador where my grandparents lived in a large Spanish patio-style house in the outskirts of Quito, overlooking south on the famous “Volcano Alley”. I had been there before on vacations and it sure didn’t seem like much of a thrill.

However, what looked like a bucolic view of Pasochoa, Cotopaxi, Ilinizas, Corazón and many more extinct and active volcanoes, soon became the theater of my first mountaineering activities as a whole.

In January 2004, aged 14, I reached the iced summit of Cotopaxi volcano (19,347 feet). From then on I have participated and/or led several expeditions all along the Andes north to south, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, from Ritacubas in Colombia to Cerro Torre, Fitz Roy, Standhart, Cerro San Lorenzo in Patagonia, Rocky Mountains from North Cascades to Yosemite, Potrero Chico in Mexico, Italian, Swiss and French Alps, Spanish Pyrenees, Pakistani Karakoram, Nepali Himalayas, Moroccan High Atlas, Madagascar’s Tsaranoro, South African Range east to west, have been other scenarios for what I consider my passion, profession, motivation and life.

Many of these expeditions are part of a project called “7 Continents, 14 Walls” as a member of the “Ecuador Escala” team along with Nicolás Navarrete and Felipe Guarderas. The team has managed to open new climbing routes on iconic big walls and earned last year a PIOLETS D’OR mention for significant ascent to Larkya Peak – Nepal.

I was born and raised in a country full of different people, and surrounded by nature. Its landscape provides the setting for the practice of many different kinds of sports. From beautiful beaches, rainforests and high peaks that touch the sky, Ecuador has it all.

I have always been more attracted to the mountains and the adventures that surround them. Since my early days; thanks to my father, I have had the chance to travel all over Ecuador and reach secret corners of the country and its summits. This inspired me to keep looking for different adventures, to discover new places, and enjoy various types of climbing such as ice climbing, big walls, sport climbing, etc.

At the age of sixteen I made my first expedition to Peru, where I saw beautiful mountains, many of which had never been climbed. This is when I realized, that there are unlimited adventures in this world for everybody.

I enjoy and climb different stiles. I´ve reached a level of V9 boulder, 5.13 and I´m comfortable in all types of terrains. Even if I climb at that level, I consider very important to mix my abilities with the best education possible when it comes to guiding. I am a PCGI (Professional Climbing Guide Institute) multi-pitch certified guide and on my way to become a mentor for the school.

After many years of exploring, traveling and discovering, I realized that I wanted to share these adventures and experiences with anybody who has a will and a desire to discover. Someone that enjoys and respect nature as much as I do. Someone that is ready for adventure!
